The Ytel team is continuing to grow, and we are currently looking to add a Cloud enthusiast to our awesome group of Engineers. We need someone who eat, sleeps and breathes the cloud. Most importantly, we need someone with a passion for technology, who gets excited about the idea of leaving their fingerprints on change!

What You'll Be Doing:

  • Participating in the design, planning and implementation of new or changing systems
  • Defining and evaluating integration strategies and architecture enhancements to meet mission objectives
  • Collaborate with various engineering teams to build, operate and deliver the next generation of Cloud infrastructure and services
  • Developing detailed technical plans to guide development and integration activities
  • Ensuring engineering standards are being followed, and work is well documented
  • Conducting requirement analysis and capacity planning
  • Responding quickly and effectively to production issues, taking responsibility for seeing those issues through resolution
  • Developing technology plans and road maps for migration of systems and the development/analysis of recommendations for upgrades and enhancements to the existing IT infrastructure
  • Proactively seeking out new training initiatives and alternative ways to stay current on new technology and methodologies

The Ideal Candidate Will Have:

  • Previous experience with lift and shift migrations, and new implementations with IaaS and PaaS solutions on Public Cloud platforms (Google Cloud required)
  • Background in Private Cloud virtualization technologies (KVM/XEN/Kubernetes/Docker)
  • Expert understanding of Platforms (Linux), Storage and Networking
  • Previous development experience with Perl, PHP, Python (Java is a plus)
  • Ability to develop and maintain Infrastructure-as-Code and Configuration Management
  • Working knowledge of: Nginx, Database platforms (Redis, Cassandra, Couchbase), Octopus, Jenkins, DevOps or CI/CD type concepts would be a plus
  • Experience with infrastructure and application monitoring and logging (Zabbix a plus)
  • Current AWS, Google Cloud, or related certification is a HUGE plus
  • Excellent analytical and problem solving skills
  • Strong leadership skills and ability to effectively communicate
  • Ability to work with minimal or no supervision on multiple concurrent complex projects and to coordinate the work of others in this environment
  • Willing to participate in on-call rotation of 24×7 support
  • Ability to travel to our data centers (~10%)
